Versus The Mirror/Youinseries/Lucerin Blue/Darkest Hour

Home- A beautifully atmospheric reminiscent album. This album shows the dead art of old school screamo. Versus the Mirror plays new age screamo with that old age twist, that just makes it that much better. The guitars are simple, the drums are simple, and the bass is simple. The vocals make the album work itself out amazingly. A lot of the material sounds the same in each song due to the vocal style, which took away from the overall rating. Recommended to fans of: (early) Saosin, Youinseries, Circa Survive, Saetia, Tunes For Bears To Dance To, Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?, etc. Overall Rating: 8.3/10
Outside We Are Fine-The Circa Survive that didn't make the cut. This band basically is the band Circa Survive with less progressive, yet more indie technical elements. The vocals fit the music perfectly, not going too high, and shows you a guy with a normal range can have a great voice. Every song has a great catch that snags you and keeps you listening. Sadly, like Versus The Mirror, this band broke up before gaining a lot of popularity. For fans of: Versus The Mirror, Circa Survive, Stutterfly, Fear Before The March Of Flames, and Secret And Whisper. Overall Rating: 9/10
Tales Of The Knife-Good hard rock that got you somewhere. There isn't really much to say about Lucerin Blue. They were like 38th Parallel; they made an album, then planned and wrote a second, but then all of a sudden broke up. This is one of the main bands me and my brother have in common, which is why i hang onto this band. Overall Rating: 7.9/10
Undoing Ruin-Wow. People say this isn't metal and this is trash hardcore/emocore. Well this album proves it wrong. This album is straight up Melodic Death Metal infused with Thrash and Metalcore. The album has experienced technical drums and bass, and soul blistering vocals that just shatter you apart. And then the guitars....holy crap, amazing. Most difficult guitar solos are cranked out, sounding like that of Dragonforce, but better because they're not as fast and technical, but still are amazingly fast to the average man who can't solo on his guitar (me). This band has been around a long time, and thats why they're so popular. It's sad that people turn down their newest 2 albums because they're big now. Who cares, it's good. I delight hearing the newer 2 darkest hour albums over all the albums, so if you hate them, screw off. Overall Rating: 9.8/10

Circa Survive-Juturna/Russian Circles-Station

The forgotten songs of Circa. This album is surprisingly better than the new one. The new one is beautifully put together, progressive, and experimental; while this one is purely genious infused with simplistic complexity. The album is strong throughout almost the whole. The album gets week in the last 2 songs, but the rest is pure. Songs like "Act Appalled" and "Stop The F**cking Car" are the pinnacle of the CD and the reason to listen to it. Great indie rock recommended for fans of Youinseries, Goodbye Tomorrow, Terminal, and Mae. Overall Rating: 9/10
If it's something my dad likes, then it must be good. This is the first album that was just released from Instrumental band Russian Circles. It is an infusion of Ambient Post Hardcore and Atmospheric Sludge. The songs come in with melodic tempting intros that blast out with magnificent strength in their centers. The songs are long and the CD is only composed of 6 tracks. Great for fans of: Bossk, Pelican, Isis, Sunn 0))), Boris, and Irreversible Overall Rating: 10/10

As I Lay Dying- An Ocean Between Us

Strong, Aesthetic, Angry, and Beautiful. The album leaves you speechless after you hear it. Brutal heavy heavy death metal growl-yells made by Tim Lambesis are a total change of pace to the way he used to scream. People think AILD got more melodic on this album... well they did. But they also got twice as heavy as they had ever previously been. I've always liked AILD, but they're one of those bands you can't listen to often or you'll get extremely sick of it. All the vocals by Lambesis and Sgrosso are amazing, the melodies and catches to each song beautify the album and not make seem like a straight-up brutal piece of crap. It proves christians can be heavy and be famous for it, and not afraid to show their christian roots. Overall Rating: 7.9/10
